Jason Koon and Caitlin Comeskey became PokerStars US Ambassadors last month.
This is great. Koon told PokerNews at the World Series of Poker Paradise, his first stop since the announcement, that he was thrilled. “It’s my perfect match, no doubt.”
Koon spoke to PokerNews on Saturday before the Triton Million, the first collaboration between the Triton Poker Series and the “new” WSOP owned by GGPoker. A businessman or businesswoman and a poker pro each paid $500,000 to compete in their fields on Day 1 in this unique tournament.
“I’m ready to work. Vinny Lingham is my partner, Koon said. “Just friends. Playing cash games together. That’s how we met. We just discussed his arrival; it was a natural fit.”
Wikipedia describes Lingham as a South African-born American Internet entrepreneur who co-founded and runs Civic, a California identity protection and management startup. Former founder and CEO of Gyft & Yola, Inc.
Koon is the most successful Triton Poker player with 10 titles and 53 cashes worth $28,899,785. Only Bryn Kenney has more Triton earnings ($45 million). Does his Triton experience help him in big buy-ins?
“I think most of the people here are pretty seasoned,” Koon modestly said. “This is a massive buy-in and will affect people differently, but that’s unpredictable. It’s hard to predict until you play with others. About 80% of the field is ready for this.

Koon said, “Very Triton-y, which is awesome.” Triton’s first WSOP event featured a new stage setup. This is huge.”
After Alex Foxen bluffed, Koon started the tournament well. During Level 1 (2,000/3,000/3,000), Foxen bet 290,000 and Koon thought carefully before saying, “I just have a pair.” The board read 2♠, 5♣, Q♪, 10♥, and 8♦. I have ace.”
He called and showed the A♦, which defeated Foxen’s K♣ J♣. Koon finished 26th out of 67 Day 1 players with 1,525,000, far ahead of his cohort Lingham, who never survived.
Poor Koon busted four levels into Day 2 after missing a flush draw against Kayhan Mokri.

I’ll play bigger ones. Will play all super high rollers.”
